Jenna Coleman on leaving rumours
Jenna Coleman remained very coy about rumours that she’s exiting Doctor Who during an appearance on This Morning today (August 22).
The actress, who plays the Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald, said that she wouldn’t confirm her departure because she believed that the uncertainty was benefiting the show.
“The truth is, I don’t want to tell you the truth,” Coleman said.
“I quite like these rumours. People don’t have any idea [if I’m staying or going]. I think people can watch the show, not knowing whether I am [going] or not, and I think that’s exciting.”
Speaking about working with new Doctor Peter Capaldi, Coleman claimed that her new leading man had a “glimpse of naughtiness”, and that the pair had been laughing continually since the third day on set.
During an appearance on The One Show on Thursday (August 21), Capaldi played down rumours about his co-star departing the sci-fi show.
“I’m not looking for a new assistant,” he told presenters Matt Baker and Alex Jones.
“I don’t know where these rumours have started. I’ve read she may be leaving at Christmas, but I don’t even know if she’ll get to Christmas. You’ll have to watch it and see what happens.”
