Deep Breath premiere tickets sell out in minutes

Fans of sci-fi adventure Doctor Who queued up from 6am in the hope of claiming their golden ticket to see the season 8 premiere alongside the stars of the show

Marking the start of the BBC One hit sci-fi drama’s spectacular world tour, the premiere will be fans’ first chance to see Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor alongside Jenna Coleman as on-screen companion Clara in episode one of the new series.

The stars will be attending the lunchtime St David’s Hall red carpet event, together with lead writer and producer Steven Moffat.

Super fan Kath Cordy arrived at the venue from Barry at 6am.

“I was on my own,” she revealed. “I was expecting a few more people here, even so I thought I’d have a better chance of getting a ticket here than over the phone or on the internet.

“It’ll be great to see Peter Capaldi watching himself as the Doctor for the first time. So it had better be good!”

A few queue members turned up to buy tickets for their Doctor Who mad children and grandchildren.

Splott grandmother Mary Beach, who has just completed a 12 foot long Tom Baker style Doctor Who scarf for her grandson Ethan, who is 11.

“This will be the ultimate for him, he’s got every Doctor Who related thing under the sun. And he’ll be over the moon that I’ve bought these for his birthday.”Excited Doctor Who fans ensured that tickets to the series eight premiere sold out in just over an hour this morning.

Some queued up from 6am outside St David’s Hall in Cardiff to ensure their place at the August 7 event.
