Doctor Who series 8 won’t be split

Doctor Who’s next series will air as one complete run, Steven Moffat has confirmed.

The BBC sci-fi drama’s seventh run was split across two years, with six episodes airing in 2012 and eight in 2013.

However, there will be “no split” for Peter Capaldi’s first series as the new Doctor, showrunner Moffat confirmed at a BFI event yesterday (December 8).

The new series of Doctor Who is expected to air on BBC One from August 2014, following Capaldi’s official debut in this year’s Christmas special, ‘The Time of the Doctor’.

The 55-year-old actor previously made a brief cameo appearance in the show’s 50th anniversary special last month.

‘The Time of the Doctor’ will air on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
