Series 8 premiere leaked online
An unfinished version of Doctor Who’s series 8 premiere has leaked online over a month ahead of its television transmission, according to the BBC.
A spokesperson for the BBC said today (July 12) that the leaking of a copy of Peter Capaldi’s debut episode ‘Deep Breath’ is part of the continuing fall-out of a security lapse at BBC Worldwide’s Latin American headquarters.
The BBC representative told The Radio Times: “This is part of BBC Worldwide’s ongoing security investigation into leaked unfinished Doctor Who materials.
“This content is currently being removed and originates from the same Miami server disabled last week, it is not a new issue. We’d like to thank the amazing Doctor Who fans who are continuing to keep fansites and social media spoiler-free.”
The BBC launched a social media campaign with the hashtag ‘#keepmespoilerfree’ earlier this week when scripts for the first five episodes appeared on a compromised server.
Those scripts had apparently been sent to BBC Worldwide’s Latin American headquarters in Miami for translation.
‘Deep Breath’ is scheduled to premiere on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US on Saturday, August 23.
