Series 9 casting news

As filming begun earlier this week on Doctor Who Series 9, some news about its cast has emerged. Joining Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will be Paul Kaye.

The actor, probably best known for his role as comedy character Dennis Pennis, has starred in Ripper Street, Game of Thrones and Being Human.

Kaye is currently shooting in Cardiff and the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine (out tomorrow) has confirmed that episodes three an four are being filmed first. Comedy website The Velvet Onion has stated that he will be filming “a couple of episodes” in Series 9.

As revealed at Christmas, the next episode broadcast will be titled The Magician’s Apprentice.

further news on guest casting has emerged. Actor Colin McFarlane (pictured below) has joined the guest cast with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman.

McFarlane is not a stranger to the world of Who having starred in Torchwood: Children of Earth (which, of course, also starred Capaldi) as General Pierce (pictured above) and provided a voice for 2007’s Voyage of the Damned. He is also well known for his television and voice work for many years and more recently in the films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Doctor Who Series 9 is currently filming Block One which consists of episodes three and four of the new run
